The White Lady: Book 2

A ghostly portrait beckons them back in time

The White Lady was inspired by ghostly lore based in the Shenandoah Valley and surrounding mountains. After researching these haunting tales, I discovered this lore is widespread in America and the UK and dates back centuries. It’s a paranormal ‘thing,’ or should I say she is? The white woman is described as a sad solitary figure deep in mourning, having been jilted in love, possibly left at the altar, maybe pregnant. Desperate, she generally kills herself or fades from illness and then lingers as a mournful restless ghost. While creepy, she’s not usually vindictive. Usually… And that’s the catch with my through time. Oh yes, and there’s romance.

Blurb: Avery Dunham has always been ready to follow her friend, time-traveling wizard, Ignus Burke, on incredible adventures. This time, though, she has serious misgivings. It’s just one week before Christmas, but she cannot get him to change his mind. The usually cool and collected magic-wielding leader is wholly obsessed by the portrait of the White Lady whom he is bent on rescuing. Almost as soon as they begin their journey, it becomes clear their mission is a trap. Avery was right: this adventure is not going to be like any other.

“I loved this book because it was so unusual and creative. It was a fun read that moved as quickly as the spectral magic that danced on each page.” ~Colleen M. Chesebro

With its gothic tone, Christmas traditions appropriate to the period, and tight-knit fellowship of dedicated and resourceful time-travelers, this book is a holiday pearl anyone can enjoy.” ~Laurie Jenkins

 Somewhere My Lady: Book 1

Is he a ghost or is he real?

This first story in my new series is similar to my Somewhere in Time Series. A ghostly time travel romance with a deadly mystery unfolds in a wonderful old house on the James River in Virginia. Can you solve the mystery? Took me a while.

Blurb: Lorna Randolph is hired for the summer at Harrison Hall in Virginia, where Revolutionary-War reenactors provide guided tours of the elegant old home. She doesn’t expect to receive a note and a kiss from a handsome young man who then vanishes into mist.
Harrison Hall itself has plans for Lorna – and for Hart Harrison, her momentary suitor and its 18th century heir. Past and present are bound by pledges of love, and modern science melds with old skills and history as Harrison Hall takes Lorna and Hart through time in a race to solve a mystery and save Hart’s life before the Midsummer Ball.

“Quite simply, one of the best paranormal, time slip stories I’ve ever had the pleasure to read,” ~Splashes Into Books

“‘Somewhere My Lady is a fun supernatural romance that will have you slipping in and out of the past and future as if you were a spirit yourself.’’ ~Colleen’s Book Review

“An enduring love story that bridges the gap of time.” ~InD’tale Magazine

***This book is dedicated to my dear little dog, Sadie–the last story she saw me through.

The Somewhere in Time Series

Where the Past Meets the Present

The idea behind my ‘Somewhere in Time series’ is that the story opens in an old home, (I love old homes!) so far Virginia, and then transports the reader back in time either in the same house or another place entirely, such as the Scottish Highlands.

Sacred relics and star-crossed lovers. Fantasy, mystery, magic, and above all romance…

“Know that love is truly timeless.” ~Author Mary M. Ricksen

“As I read Somewhere My Love, I recalled the feelings I experienced the first time I read Daphne DuMaurier’s Rebecca long ago. Using the same deliciously eerie elements similar to that gothic romance, Beth Trissel has captured the haunting dangers, thrilling suspense and innocent passions that evoke the same tingly anticipation and heartfelt romance I so enjoyed then, and still do now.” ~joysann for Publisher’s Weekly

”Somewhere My Lass was a wonderful time-travel romance. I enjoyed that the time-travel went from the past to 2009 and not the other way.” ~ by Silvermage of Night Owl Reviews

The Native American Warrior Series

Historical Romance with a The Last of the Mohican’s flavor and a Mystical Weave

My fascination with Colonial America, particularly stirring tales of the frontier and the Shawnee Indians, is an early and abiding one. My English, Scot-Irish ancestors had interactions with this tribe, including family members taken captive. In historical romance Red Bird’s Song, I honed in on my early American roots in a novel featuring the Scots-Irish and an Indian attack that happened to my ancestors. Award-winning historical romance novel Through the Fire is also based on research into my colonial forebears and the French and Indian War.

“Ms. Trissel’s alluring style of writing invites the reader into a world of fantasy and makes it so believable it is spellbinding.” -Long and Short Reviews

My absorption with Colonial America extends to the high drama of the Revolution, the focus of award-winning historical romance novel Enemy of the King (Book 1, The Traitor’s Legacy Series). I have ancestors who fought and loved on both sides of that sweeping conflict. My research into the Southern face of the war was partly inspired by my great-great-great grandfather, Sam Houston, uncle of the famous Sam, who kept a journal of the Battle of Guilford Courthouse, North Carolina, 1781, used by historians today.

“An amazing and vibrant look into the American Revolution…this sexy historical is a must read!” ~Coffee Time Romance And More for Enemy of the King

The Secret Warrior Series

Morgan and her kid brother enter a hidden world filled with secrets

The Secret Warrior Series was inspired by my love of history, fantasy, the paranormal, and fascination with the mountain people, Native Americans, and wolf shifters. Living in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia surrounded by mountains veiled in mist and mystery lent itself well to creating the characters and setting. Some of the characters and creatures are based on lore I’ve learned over the years. Others appeared to me, as characters have a way of doing.

“This is a series with a whole bunch of potential and I can’t wait to read more. Definitely recommended for all fans of YA/Paranormal.” ~Merissa for YA Insider for The Hunter’s Moon

“What a brilliant second story in this paranormal series! ” ~Elaine at Splashes into Books
